Just Curious, Radical Changes

SMALLER CLOTHES. Took a trip to Europe. Was able to walk. Didnt need an extra lap belt. Fit in to the seat and had room. Got a membership at a gym. Have a better opinion of me.

Thank you all. Good to know no one totally went crazy after being banded :D

xsentrick: warning tats are addictive. i currently have three and wanting more.

The change I've made, and I've only been banded two weeks, is my outlook on life, I feel like I want to live again and enjoy all that comes with life. I was in such a state of depression for so many years, my weight also being a part of that. Since making my decision and actually going ahead with the banding I feel so much happier and much more confident. Even my three precious children said to me the other day, mum you seem so much happier and much less grumpy. I stopped to think about what they said and it clicked that I have been so much calmer and confident. Once I reach my goal I'm going to get a small tattoo of a butterfly which to me will represent freedom, I don't have any tattoos so that will be a radical step for me also.

It feels so good to wake up every morning refreshed from a good nights sleep and jumping out of bed to enjoy each new day and weighting a little less each day also.

I had been banded late in 2008 and in a matter of a year span.

I got laid off my job.

Went back to school fulltime

Lost My Mom to Cancer

Filed for Divorce from my now ex husband

Went skydiving.

Went up with my best friend to Saratoga Springs NY for a couple months while dealing with my legal stuff.

'Stella got her groove back' (grin)

Had movers come get my stuff, and drove cross county with just my dog and I!

Found myself back home in Sunny California.

I am now in a awesome relationship with the greatest guy ever who is extremely supportive and loving.

I think for a relationship that is strong, I do not think the banding is an issue. However if there is issues they will most likely come to the surface. I think you know better of what you will or will not tolerate and I do not think that when you come out of your shell that you are not as willing to settle and deal with the bull that come with some crappy relationships.

So I agree with MIS on this one totally!

I'm nowhere near goal weight yet but my relationship with food has changed completely. It is more than what you put in your body -- it is a mental transformation. The way I view myself and my future is a lot different (in a good way). My relationships with others are starting to change as I notice some treat me differently now that I'm smaller. I exercise a lot. I am WAY more willing to try new things.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
