Question! Many people have mentioned that bread is mostly a no-go after Lapband, but I have been seeing people mention they can eat wheat bread without issues. Does anyone have any experiences/opinions with eating wheat bread? I'm a sandwich for lunch girl and I would hate having to completely cut it out after I'm back on normal foods.

Many of us can still eat bread, including me. I eat bread, Pasta, rice, and potatoes regularly. I just make sure the bread is whole grain so it's better for you.

Some are on super low carb diets and omit it because of that, and some simply can't eat it without getting stuck, but there is no "rule" stating you can't have bread after you have the band.

As long as I take very little bites, chew it until mush, and pause between bites I can eat bread just fine. I eat sandwiches with a knife and fork to make sure I don't accidentally take too big of a bite.

I generally don't limit bread but only because I usually can't eat it! If it's toasted or crackers, it's better. White or wheat though, doesn't seem to matter much to me. I will choose the better kind but don't normally eat it when I'm out because it can be challenging.

the speed at which you eat is probably the most important part. I think it is one of the hardest things for us to remember. I never used to eat my meals slowly! Obviously, that's why I was obese!

I eat a sandwich for lunch every work day. I use Oroweat 100% whole wheat sandwich thins, 100 calories. Never had a problem & I've been banded for 6 months.

I can eat anything I want -(including just very small amts. My eyes r bigger than my stomach. I usually make a whole sandwiich but always only eat 1/2. The only type of food I've tried many times and it never works is thick pizza crust and pineapple chunks. I can eat 1 pc of pizza as long as its thin crust and eaten very slowly. No clue why I cant eat pineapple. Its my fav fruit too.

So yes, I eat bread. Almost daily. Been stuck many times (always becasue I either ate too fast or took too big of bites) but I dont think its ever been on bread.

Good luck!

Marci

I personally cannot eat bread now that I'm in the green zone (unless it is well toasted.) Personally not a huge thing for me. I still have sandwiches using Mission brand low carb wraps...much easier to eat for me.

bread is a no go for me, the only bread I can tolerate is cornbread and for that I can only have a very small amount. I know it was very hard for me to except that bread was gone especially because i love to have tuna sandwiches,

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
