Went for my first fill today and they wouldn't give it to be because I stay full for 5 hours at a time. I lost 10lbs in 5 weeks which they considered optimal progress. Thought my first fill was going to jump start some faster weight loss

Wow, if you can stay full for 5 hours, then yeah...I would assume you wouldn't need a fill. I'm eating the recommended small lap band portions and my stomach sounds like a monster 2 hours later. I cannot wait until my first fill! 10 pounds is really great though! I would be happy with that, consider yourself lucky because I know some people are struggling to lose anything in the beginning.

Is there another way you can jump start it? Up scale the time or intensity of excercise or do a different type all together. Drink more Water? Sometimes even changing the types of food you eat, not so much the energy intake but I've heard that eating foods that you maybe wouldn't eat can shift your metabolism. From previous weight loss attempts I have lost weight by introducing stuff I wouldn't normally eat helped. Things like trying different vegetables or spices used in different countries. Ive even heard swapping your meals around can help, so eat dinner foods at Breakfast and breakfast at dinner etc. good luck and hang in there.

You can always try switching it up but your body will only lose what it wants to when it wants to. Lots of Water really does help and remember if you do strength training that muscle weighs more then fat. But if you are staying satisfied for 5 hours why would you want a fill? You still have to have enough calories a day to lose weight too. If your eating less then 1000 you probably wont lose weight. My personal optimum caloric intake for maximum weight loss is about 1400 a day.

Really??? 10 lb in 5 weeks and you want faster?! A fill is not gonna make you lose weight. The band may help you but in the end it is still your choices that make the weight come off.

I am not banded yet, but I think 10 lbs in 5 weeks is fantastic and you have restriction! That equals to 2 lbs a week which is more than expected to lose on the lapband, Remember the lapband usually balances between 1-2 pounds a week.

You are doing really good :)

Agree with previous posters. Keep in mind as you loose weight you will also loose fat on the stomach. As that fat goes away you will then need fills to tighten the band around the stomach.

As also mentioned are you exercising? Most doctors say minimum of 30 minutes a day 7 days a week.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
