Ok, I need help here. I am hoping someone has had something like this and can explain it to me. Day before yesterday this started. Its a weird feeling I get where my port is, a kind of throb, like a heartbeat. Not painful at all, just feels weird. I can easily touch my port through my skin... I am not sure what is going on. I am almost 4 weeks post op, still too soon for a fill. Up until now, nothing has bothered me at all. No food issues whatsoever.

It is not a constant feeling either, it comes and goes. Like I said it just feels weird. It does not seem to happen with any certain movement, more random like.

Please, does anyone have any ideas? I cannot reach my doctor tonight over this. I dont think its emergent.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Stephanie

I wonder if it could be a simple muscle spasm? They usually don't hurt just jump. Especially since that muscle was cut and a port was sown to it it takes some adjusting. That would be my guess...and it's only a guess. Good luck! If it gets bothersome I'm sure your Dr's office would be more than happy to answer a quick call. They are used to it.

The feeling where you wonder if an alien is going burst through your port site?

Try not to stress I had gotten those before and I believe it is a muscle spasm of sorts. I have gotten them mild and more severe where they feel like the type of charlie horse you get in your calf, the throbbing, twisting which have come on when i stretched it out too much or something and ALWAYs on the bad ones seems to happen when I have not hydrated properly! Eat a banana and drink drink drink...

hydrate and if needed put a warm pack on it to help it relax.

Hope that helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
