Throwing Up After First Fill

Recommended Posts

Ok so after i got my first fill about 2 weeks after every time i start to eat anything i have a sharp pain in the top of my stomach almost like a stuck feeling, when i get up to try to walk it off i find myself walking straight to the bathroom and throwing up, well more like just comes up without the heeving but its thick spit! It seems to always be clear. After i get that out of my stomach i am good to continue to eat with no prob. Anyone else have or had this problem. Or any suggestions on how to stop this?

ooohhh The SLIME........

What is your first bite? I can't always stick to the Protein first rule. There are also several threads about "first bite syndrome". You may want to check them out.

Sliming, yeah. It's normal and most every bandster has and is experiencing it. You need to slow down, chew a lot, and eat band friendly foods. But, it really varies what we all can eat. Some foods that affect others don't affect me. bread, dry meats, carrots, tortillas, fruit skins, etc can get stuck.

You should be doing the happy dance? As soon as you figure out how to eat enough food and how to slow down and let it pass through, you may be in the green zone. Lucky you!

There is also something it could be which is to do with the over prodcution of mucus from the oesophegas which is does as a reaction to the band being in situ, evidently drinking warm Water /drink 30 mins before u eat should clear this mucus and u should be able to eat. Obviously if food is stuck and u are sliming up food and saliva then thats a different problem .. u are stuck and its not the mucus problem :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
