I Am Unsure Of Which Surgery I Want To Get. Leading Towards Lapband, Need Help.

Recommended Posts

The reason why I don't know which surgery I want is the complications risks and the amount of weight lossed with each surgery. The lap band I heard you don't lose much weight as you might with gastric bypass or the sleeve. It makes me unsure of which surgery I want because clearly I want to lose all I can. Why has anyone else chosen the lap band over anything else? I know with gastric bypass you can't eat sugars and other things because you have the dumping syndrome. And with the sleeve I'll feel uneasy about having my stomach permanently removed. I weigh 244lbs and am 5'7. I want to lose 90lbs. Which surgery is best for me?

That decision is obviously up to your doctor and yourself. I chose the band because it just felt right. I feel really uneasy about bypass, making the stomach smaller and changing where digestion occurs. Same with the sleeve. After reading about all the choices I just felt like having my stomach cut and stapled wasn't the right choice for me. I like the flexibility of the band (adjustment if necessary, fills until you get to the right spot etc) Also, if a woman were to get pregnant or have some other condiiton where more food was needed the band can be unfilled or even removed. I havent had my surgery yet though.

Also, there are a TON of people on here who have lost 75.. 100... 100+ lbs. It seems to work really well if you're willing to put in the work.

I chose Lap-Band because I couldn't rationalizing cutting out 3/4 of my stomach or rerouting my intestines without trying something far less drastic and reversible first.

No matter what surgery you choose, the work will be yours to do. You will have to make healthy eating habit changes for a lifetime and their are rules to follow for each surgery.

I've lost 117 pounds in 6 months. There's people here who've lost over 200 pounds with Lap-Band. You can lose a lot of weight with the band if you're willing to do the work to be successful.

Okay that's helpful. 117Lbs in 6 months that's crazy. That's awesome. What have you been doing? I know I'll have to put in the work and I want to do that. I know it won't be a quick fix.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
