Kate rules 43 Posted July 16, 2012 I was 30, had type 2 diabetes, fatty liver disease and doctor wanted to start me on heart medicine as a precaution. It was only 70 pounds but it has made all the difference in my health. 1 duckydoom reacted to this

duckydoom 128 Posted July 25, 2012 It was suggested to me about 3 years ago when I brought up concerns about my inability to lose weight w/my doc. I balked at it though, because it seemed “so drastic.” I revisited the idea last fall after being asked by an obnoxious acquaintance in a large gathering if I was pregnant or not, and then her laughing hysterically when I said no… everyone stared, it was so crappy. A couple of my friends came to my defense of course, but it was so mortifying, and I’d been on WW for months at that point and hadn’t lost anything. So, I felt it was time for “drastic.” My surgery is August 21, and I’m so excited for the potential of this tool to help me get my confidence back.

pink dahlia 2,513 Posted July 26, 2012 Knew i had to do something but had no idea as to what, so thought i would be overweight forever as Weight Watchers didnt work. watched 2 relatives become sucessful with a lapband, so i started looking into it. i was banded Dec 2011 (Best decision ever !!!) knew it was right for me as soon as i started my research. No more old lady clothes, lots more energy, like what i see in the mirror, more self confidence, nice compliments.
taketimetofind 3 Posted July 26, 2012 I'm younger. For me though, I decided to look into lapband for my future. Due to my weight (287) I am dealing with problems most kids my age should not have to deal with. I have PCOS. The doctor told me that if I don't lose weight, I could injure my chances in having kids. That's what did it for me. I am now 10% down (pre op) and am having the surgery in late August. I have never been happier. I want my life back.
