sma5062 0 Posted July 12, 2012 Hi all! I am schedulded to be banded on July 26. I have a question. I had my upper GI done this morning and the dr. said I have pretty severe reflux. Is this going to delay surgery? I knew I was having a little indigestion but had no idea it was so bad. I don't go for my pre-op appointment until the 24th. I don't want anything to delay surgery! I start my pre-op diet today. Looking forward to beginning my new banded life! Thanks! Stacey
NWgirl 574 Posted July 12, 2012 I can't really answer your question, but I have read a lot on the boards about hernias causing reflux. Did they mention if they thought you had a hernia or not?
sma5062 0 Posted July 12, 2012 The dr didn't say anything about a hernia. She said everything else looked fine. I almost wish I did have a hernia then maybe insurance would help pay because I'm a self pay patient lol. I guess I'll just wait to see if the dr calls me or talk to him at the pre-op appointment. adorkbl 156 Posted July 12, 2012 My hiatal hernia wasn't diagnosed with an upper GI. They did an EGD to diagnose it. I would ask. If some of your surgery might be covered it is worth a shot.
