ebelizon 0 Posted July 11, 2012 I had my lap-band surgery last week on July 3 and I have had really tough complications. My esophogus and upper stomach were so swollen that I couldn't drink at all. I ended up getting dehydrated and back in the hospital for 2 days. I can still barley drink fluids and fight dehydration daily. It is actually painful to drink Clear Liquids for me.Does anyone have advice or a similar situation? I would love ideas... Thanks!
NWgirl 574 Posted July 11, 2012 I would ask if you have any saline in your band; if you do, have them remove it. 2 MoreThanJustaPrettyFace and running_scared reacted to this
LadyBC 22 Posted July 11, 2012 It sounds like they scrapped the inside of your esophagus when putting your feeding tube in or taking it out! I also have a sore throat, I was banded yesterday, the discharge nurse told me to get se cepocol lozenges and they really helped! Good luck Amy
gersue 1 Posted July 12, 2012 I had my surgery on the 28th of June. I was back in the ER on the 30th with issues with breathing. After they tested me for blood clots, pnuemonia, and other things they finally said my surgeon had said this was normal. My diaphragm was swollen and that it would get better. It did - but I was in the ER on Monday due to dehydration. They filled me up with 3 litres and sent me home. I saw my doc on Tuesday and they said it was a combination of my BP med (has a Water pill in it) and my not drinking enough. Told them that I was full and I was only getting in about 25 - 30gms of Liquid Protein. So I was stuffed and was trying to get all my water in. So - I am now on Water, and maybe 10gms of Protein. Need to get the kidney enzymes down - so my moving to the pureed diet is now delayed. And man I was so looking forward to those scrambled eggs on Friday!!! But I have lost 10#s since surgery. I would not recommend a water diet...
