the biggest thing to know is that the band is not a miracle worker, it is a tool that helps by letting you know when you've eaten enough. It is work and takes commitment. the rewards are great!

I hope that you realize that these are two different types of surgeries. While the end result is the same. Her weight loss was probably quicker and easier. And she might have lost more than you have to now. Don't forget to say bye bye to your diet soda, and all white flour foods. Like bread, rice and Pasta.

BEST OF LUCK I am behind you all the way.

thanks for the encouragement. yes i understand it will be different. thats why i like it better then what she had done. when she got it done she was over 420. i am 250 and know it took me five years to put on 100 lbs so if it takes me a while to take off its ok. its healthier to take it off slow and if uou do it correctly then your less likely to put back on. its not about useing the band to loose wieght its about using the band to train myself to eat better so I can loose wieght.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
