Awkward customer 5 Posted July 10, 2012 I have been banded for some time and doing relatively well on it - the band is sometimes tighter for no reason at all and so I do occasionally have to vomit, but generally all is OK. But over the past week, I have had reflux virtually every night and even during the day. It is not an acidic, heartburn-style reflux - it is not painful. It is just that I can taste some liquid, usually tasteless white liquid, in my mouth. And during the day my mouth never feels clean - it is like there is a mucus or phlegm all the time, or a file of liquid in my mouth all the time, but no actually indigestion. My only solutions are to use indigestion tablets, which briefly rein it in - and to drink a lot of Water. Have other people experienced this non-acidic reflux? Will it go? Or do I need an unfill? I feel so embarrassed to talk about matters like my mouth not feeling clean and having a layer of gunge in it, I don't know whether I could talk to the doctor about such a thing. Thanks for any comments.
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted July 10, 2012 Hi Awkard, I am not banded but I have the same systems as you (without vomiting of course) I occassionaly get reflux without heartburn. I notice certain foods trigger it. It varies and I am just noting it down as I find out what does. My favorite things to eat like garlic, onions, and peppers. Almost all sugary foods, dairy, and even yogurts. I have told my primary doctor about this and he gave me prevacid to take. The previcid didn't work, but what did beleive it or not was the Walgreen's brand called Wal-Zan. I guess its their generic brand to Zantac.(its a super tiny pill) I take it right before I go to bed and I am fine. Some doctors swear on taking the acid reducers first thing in the morning before you eat anything. Have you noticed the reflux when eatting something? Have you been eatting anything different lately? Have you been eatting more than usual? I am sorry I think someone banded can be of more help to you, but I figure I shares some of my findings... Best of luck, I am sure you will find an answer soon, -Patty
Jachut 487 Posted July 10, 2012 Yes, i noticed at one point tgat i would cough whenever i ate something and there would be a little mucous. Eventually i got soe night reflux. A slight unfill fixed it. Ive now had two small unfills ( apart fom a complete unfill for urgery) and i never gained weight after either, so dont fear, just go do it. 1 PattyGirl66 reacted to this
