My port is located at the top of my stomach, just below the center of my chest. Everybody else I talk to has theirs on the side, is mine normal?

My friend's port is placed like that as well. I don't know what determines where they put your port really. Does anyone else?

Mine is on my right side, just below my rib cage, halfway between my sternum and naval. I asked the surgeon about placement, and he said that he always places his on the right side. I would have much preferred left, I'm a right-sided sleeper and wake up sore every now and then, but he said it was the best spot that he found for continued access.

My port is on the right side a few inches above my waist. My port is what he calls a 'problem port' because it flips and moves..>ALOT!!! Ive already had 1 port revision, and when I went for my last fill 2 weeks ago, it had flipped again. He was able to manipulate it to flip back over, but seems that will be an ongoing cnstant issue for me

My port is just below my sternum, too. I like it there because it's not anywhere near the waistband of my pants.

Also, it just feels like it's secured in there really well, no moving around or anything.

Mine is right below my sternum sewed to my abdominal wall. It is actually a good spot because it doesn't move around a lot and lower risk of flip!

Mine is dead center on my stomach to the left of the larger incision.

Mine is in the center below my sternum. So far so good!!

I hope my surgeon puts mine in the center under my sternum. Seems like this is the favored spot? I'm going to ask him if it matters where to put it, if not I'll ask for that position.

Mine is just under the sternum- my surgeon says easier to access, less likely to flip. I do have to say that the 1st fill was a breeze to me because of that.

Mine is supposedly between my ribs and navel and slightly left. When I stand it's in the vicinity of my largest scar. I can barely feel it. It seems really deep, or is it just covered with fat? I'm four weeks out of surgery.

The only issue (for me) with having the port right below your sternum is sometimes my bra irritates it and I have to "adjust" You also have to be real careful ALWAYS when laying on your stomach on firm surfaces.

My port is about midway between my sternum and navel...to the right of center.

I asked my surgeon his reason for choosing this particular location...he said it was basically a physician preference decision.

The general surgeon who I had a consult with last week felt my port, and commented that it was in a strange location for a port to be placed...

Thank you guys so much. I thought I was the only one that had it done this way. This forum is such a helpful thing.

I had SILS so mine is about two inches below my belly button...I don't know of anyone else who has theirs in the same spot so I guess I'm the weird one!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
