running_scared 125 Posted July 11, 2012 You can find Biotin pills Just about anywhere just to name a few: Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, Rite Aid.... Ok. I'll take a look. I'm in Canada though, so we've got completely different pharmacies here. Thanks 1 PattyGirl66 reacted to this
justathing2me 146 Posted July 11, 2012 How do you know how much Biotin to take? I've noticed it in 1000, 5000 and 7500mcg?
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted July 11, 2012 How do you know how much Biotin to take? I've noticed it in 1000, 5000 and 7500mcg? Good question and honestly there really is no answer to that, maybe depending on how severe the hair loss to give it a start with a high dosage. I take 2500 because I shed (I am not banded yet). My girlfriend has no thyroid because she had thyroid cancer and they took the whole thyroid out and she has very little hair and takes the highest dosage there is. The weird thing is she said after she started taking the Biotin pills she got back a lot of energy she didn't have before. It could be mind over matter but either way the higher dosage as the lower dosage will not hurt you, and she is on tons of medications and I am on high blood pressure meds and can take this. I guess start out with a lower dosage just to see if you can tell a difference, if anything your nails will grow like weeds.....
brooke33 7 Posted July 11, 2012 U need to check on how much from a dr, nutritionist, or pharmacy tech. Vitamins r good in small amounts. I've taken classes in college about this n the Vitamins that r Water soluble ain't to bad for ya if u get too much but the ones that r not (fat soluble) they r very dangerous ( one for example potassium). I will check my old papers from that class n see what it says. Hope this helps. Good luck n b safe! PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted July 11, 2012 BTW I did ask my primary doctor before taking Biotin pills, he said there is no problem taking them at all if I think it will make my hair grow ...he said go for it!

MsDuran 62 Posted July 11, 2012 It's that time of year. People shed like animals. I'm sure you will be ok, it sounds like you are eating enough.. I hope you get better soon.! 1 PattyGirl66 reacted to this
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted July 11, 2012 MsDuran, you may be on to something.. I notice I shed much more in the warmer weather so I had to do some research. This is my findings... The reason as to why we lose hair during summer is because we sweat a lot during summer, the pores on the surface of the skin spread to release sweat. Our hair becomes weak at that time and is more prone to falling off. Along with Hair loss you might also experience itching and irraitation of the scalp. This could make you scratch your head which could cause hair fall to get much worse. You all can read more about it here: http://haircosmetology.com/hair-loss-issue/experiencing-hair-fall-during-summer-season/
PattyGirl66 1,243 Posted July 11, 2012 Okay, we all need to stop scratching our heads
catmom50 0 Posted July 14, 2012 OH and also...protein Protein protein. You can't eat enough of it after being banded. I add cheese to everything, eat lots of chicken, fish beef and the dairy products like yogurt and cottage cheese daily.
missdietcoke 18 Posted July 14, 2012 Biotin is a water-soluble Vitamin.< /strong> Whatever water-soluble Vitamins are not used by the body are eliminated in urine.
RenaeP77 13 Posted July 14, 2012 I got my Biotin at the Vitamin shop. It's a losenge that melts uner my tongue so I don't have to worry with trying to swallow a pill. It's orange flavored so it tastes pretty good too.
Dacoop 84 Posted July 14, 2012 My hair started to fall out about three months out. I started taking Biotin 10000 units once a day. I found it in one pill 10000. I also take a zinc pill with it. My doc recommended both together for Hair loss. I also used bosley Shampoo and conditioner and just recently stopped using them. I am also a cosmetologist and this is the best shampoo and conditioner on the market today. Make sure you use the shampoo and conditioner both every day. They are designed to use both. My hair loss has stopped. The other is I made sure I was for sure getting enough Protein by drinking Unjury in my Water. They say sometimes at first you are not absorbing enough protein with just food so Protein Shakes can help! Good luck it will come around.
Lannae 46 Posted July 14, 2012 Did you find any pills? and have you started to take them... For others, yes it is normal to shed, I always shed, and with long thick hair sometimes it would be alot but never really thought about it or noticed it..since being banded however, the word shedding is times 3, if you dont have it is hard to describe the amount, or the feeling of what the heck is going on, and if it keeps up what will I have left..I do know it will go away, but there is a diffrence between what is normal and what is weightloss related..and I know this now...ugh..hope it stops soon!!!
