Hi everyone,

I was banded in December 2004 at the WISH Center in Springboro OH (Middletown Regional Hospital) and had a good experience. I have a Vanguard band (10 cc band). I have had 2 fills, no problem with the fills. The first fill was 4 cc. Not a lot of restriction, got a second fill to 8 cc in March 2005. The second fill did give me some restriction. However, now I can eat anything I want. I have a wicked sweet tooth which doesn't help matters and I am a total carb addict. I can eat mashed potatoes like there is no tomorrow. Not much of a meat eater. That is a problem. The only vegetable I like is corn and potatoes. I have lost about 12 lbs since I was banded in Dec 2004. Not very good. I need to eat more Protein and more "solid" food instead of the mashed potatoes, Soup and sugar free Jello pudding that I eat so often. Anyway, hoping to get some good ideas about eating the right foods on this forum.

Theresa

Welcome to LBT. Best of luck with your journey. I also have the VG band. I have had 5 fills and am up tp 8ccs. I am finally feeling some restriction, but like yourself I have a terrible sweet tooth. My doc just prescribed 1/2 tsp. of Prozac a day in hopes to curb my cravings. I haven't noticed a difference yet, but the pharmacist said it could take 4-6 weeks to notice a change. I was banded July 29, 2005.I have lost about 57lbs total since September 2004.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
