Trouble Foods?...

Recommended Posts

I'm newly banded and am still in the mushy stage. But I'm just curious what foods you have had trouble with? I hear a lot of people say bread and Pasta give them the most trouble. Just wondering, I would love to avoid a stuck episode! :)

i have no trouble with Pasta, as we only eat whole wheat ( Husbands diabetic ), whole wheat pasta is less likely to get stuck but i havent had regular pasta in years. same with 3-4 bites of potato. a little regular bread is fine but after 3-4 bites im stuck. Broccoli became a no no after my 6th fill, but was fine before. It can vary depending on your fill, time of day etc. Steak was fine last night, but got stuck today at lunch. Sigh..................

We are all so different with the foods that give us trouble. Even your food lists will change as you get fills along the way. The best thing to do as you try new things is to chew every bite well and eat slow.

It is such a learning process. I don't chew so much I get grossed out or liquify my bites. I just make sure every bite is well chewed.

My list of foods I can no longer tolerate is long and has been from day one. You may be able to tolerate many more things. Just try a tiny bit, wait to see how it goes, then proceed with caution.

You shouldn't avoid eggs just because someone else can't eat them. They are a great source of Protein and many bandsters have no trouble. A small stuck episode may be the only way you can figure out what you can't tolerate.

My list that comes to mind:

bread

Pasta

rice

tortillas

Pizza Crust

eggs

dense meats

cucumbers

fried foods

anything too dense or dry

Thanks. I'll just be careful and see what works for me.

I agree, we all have different things that give us issues and as you get tighter your list will change. I can definitely not eat bread, soft Pizza Crust, some Pasta, hard boiled eggs, dry chicken, over cooked steak or al dente broccoli. Most of the things I can't eat are things my doc wants me to avoid anyway (starches) so it just serves to help me stick to my diet!! lol

I have 6cc so far and have found that nothing is a problem, hopefully it stays that way. Sauses are my friend. I special ordered small forks and spoons to help me out with the small bites, i still have trouble with the slow eating but it is a concious effort to slow down. I have only had two things that i took to big of a bite and had a hard time swallowing it but after a few minutes it was fine and both times i was in a hurry to eat so it was all on my poor choice. Good luck!!!!!

Dry meat, bread, thick Pasta, celery, rice, sometimes chicken if too dry, eating too fast and not tiny bites( sze of pinky nail) , eggs unless poached, and it varies. Hamburger unless it's really tender and less cooked.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
