3Rd Fill Too Tight, Then Too Loose?

Recommended Posts

I finally felt some restriction after my third fill. The end of the first week i was definitely getting a full feeling! i was so excited. The second week, I could barely keep anything down. it did not matter what i ate, how slowly, how small bites, and even if I chewed 45 times each bite (can anyone say OVERKILL?).

Now it's week three and it seems that all the restriction I was feeling is gone. I have had no issues with any foods i have eated for the last few days. A slight amount of a full feeling, but not uncomfortable. In fact about 45 minutes after i eat i am ready to eat a meal. My portions are still band-sized (about 3 oz Protein and 1/4 c veggie) but I bet i could eat that about 8 times I day. I am NOT eating 8 times a day only 3 or 4 "meals".

Is it common to go from some restriction to good restriction to no restriction? I see the doc again next week, should I ask for a small fill?

I am kind of disheartened this last few days....Any input would help!

This is why it is very hard to find the sweet spot for some people. It sounds like you are very close.

At this point it may only take a very tiny fill and you will be there. If you do get a small fill at your next appt. proceed with caution and follow the liquids rule after the fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
