Small Victory At 2 Months Post Op!

Recommended Posts

I don't consider myself a "success story" yet, because I have a long way to go until my goal, and a lot to learn. But I wanted to share one way in which my life has completely changed since my weight loss.

I stopped going to theme parks about 4 years ago due to being repeatedly turned away from rides because of my size. However, yesterday I went to a theme park for the first time in years and was able to fit on EVERY SINGLE RIDE! I rode a rollercoaster!!! No more panic attack waiting to see if the bar would fit over my stomach or if I could squeeze into the seats. It was a dream come true for me. Here I am yesterday:

Bravo! That is a great VICTORY! I know that dread and the embarrassment of having to walk away because the bar wouldn't close. I am soooo looking forward to getting on every rollercoaster and ride imaginable when the weight finally comes off. (banded 6/26)

It's amazing the number of things in life that we missed out on, big and small. Life is meant to be lived, this is our chance, Let's Take It!!

Continued success!

I've been pinned into rides too and wondered, "Geez, it can't be me. Plenty of folks bigger than me walking around this park...." not realizing that none of us fit. Size does matter.

Congratulations! I'm in MN, too, and can't wait until I can go to ValleyFair and ride the rides again with my kids! Maybe next summer?

I met one of my goals this week, too. I wanted to go into a mass retailer and put on a pair of jeans that fit. I did it! I about cried. Of course, I put them back on the shelf and headed to the thrift store and found 3 pairs for the price of that one!

Thank you for the support!! It's nice to be able to share these victories with people who have been there. When you have been fighting weight for so long, the little things like this mean so much. We will all attain our goals!

Congrats Sarah.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
