Was banded 6/14. I have been eating regular food this week per my dr. I haven't had many issues with getting stuck and I have been very hungry (first fill not until 7/20.)

I had a piece of Ezekiel break this morning and a Protein Shake. I was hungry at lunchtime and heated up some leftovers. I had ground beef, soft boiled cauliflower, and some soft brown rice. I ate this lastnight with no problem. When I tried to eat at lunch, I could only eat a couple of bites before I felt like I was going to get stuck. I stopped and rested a while before trying again. When I tried again, I could still only get a couple small bites of each down without feeling sick.

dinner rolled around and I decided to just have some probiotic yogurt drink. I got that down slowly. I felt pretty good so I decided

To try a couple of kashi crackers. I have that same horrible feeling again like I am getting stuck.

This is the first day since my surgery that I haven't been able to eat despite being hungry. Should I be concerned or just try again tomorrow?

I have read on here that one day you can feel tighter than other days. Sounds like warm fluids can help...

even after being banded for over 2 years i still run into this problem.....i can go out to dinner enjoy my meal bring home the leftovers for the next day and i wont be able to get it down, but you did the right thing by resting..... dont force it because it will cause you to throw up which could lead to other complications. i have found that if i wait too long to eat and im really hungry that my band feels tight and im not able to eat at all, also i have problems eating as soon as i wake up in the mornings so i usually wait a few hours before i try any food and if im stressed or having any anxiety it makes it difficult for me to eat. Trust me you will learn over time what is your bands and bodys "normal" and it does take some getting used to

A couple of weeks ago I was considering a slight unfill because of so many PB's. The last fews days I'm thinking I could use a tiny bit more fill. I have decided my band is a fickle band, tight one day, loose the next.

Being stressed can be a real band tightener for me. I bought a chicken salad for dinner the other night, took a couple of bites, was not happy with the salad (didn't have all the ingredients it was supposed to have and was quite old), so I took it back to the counter and insisted that they make me a fresh one. By the time it arrived, my band had tightened in reaction to my stress (annoyance), I took two bites and then couldn't eat anymore. Had to take it away and eat it a couple of hours later.

Its weird how you can eat one food one day and then the next, you cannot tolerate it. Yesterday I had spaghetti (made with ground turkey breast and whole wheat noodles). I had no problem whatsoever. I just ate some for supper tonight (about half the amount I ate yesterday). It feels like a rock in my stomach.

After 30-40 minutes I begin drinking Water. Eventually it washes it down and I get my fluids in.

I have been banded almost 4 years with NO FILLS and have days like that. Sometimes I can get hamburg or chicken down and sometimes I cannot. These bands have minds of their own. It has been in the triple digits here in AZ and the last few days I cannot get more than a couple of bites of anything down. Hopefully this will last a week or so to get that extra few pounds off I put on last winter. I love my band and would not be here without it, so I just take one day at a time. Some days I can get good and others are hit and miss. Enjoy the ride with getting smaller and it all seems worth it in the long run.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
