To all that has had the surgery already, what was your turnaround for going back to work?

I had my surgery on a Tuesday and returned to work the following Monday. If you are able to take more time do it. It was hard returning to work while still on liquids and learning a new eating routine.

I was banded on the 26th of June and am scheduled to return to work on the 11th of July. Honestly, I'm glad I'm taking 2 whole weeks off. Though I have a desk job, I simply can't imagine returning to work just after a week. It took 8 days to finally shake off the gas pain and am now dealing with surgical incision pain (and possibly mild infection...my surgeon did put me on antibiotics to be on the safe side).

Everyone is different thus recovery time will vary from person to person. I do, however, recommend taking 2 weeks off if you have the vacation/sick time to cover it or short term disability (FMLA leave). It's always a good idea to err on the safe side of things.

Depends on what you do, I had mine on Tuesday and went back on Friday. Would have liked to wait until Monday but I didn't tell anyone about it so didnt have a choice.

Banded on a Tuesday and went back to work on Monday. It wasn't too bad, but I was tired a little.

I took a total of 8 days and was glad I did.

If you are able to take extra days, I would. Just to rest/pamper yourself.

I had my surgery on a friday and flew 6hrs on sunday to return to work on monday..it was not that bad, if you can take off an extra couple of days try to, just to relax, but if you cant, you should be fine..good luck, best choice ever!!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
