Curious if anyone has had Smartlipo. Can't believe that they are able to tighten all the skin with lasers. Anyone done ir or know of someone?

It Is for people that want to reshape and do away with a little pudge. It doesn't help with loose skin. My skinny sister-in-law had it done.

I wish it were that easy. I am recovering from a Tummy Tuck and lower body lift.

Karen,

I am doing okay. I seem to be more sore now that I have returned to work. This Thursday will be 4 weeks since surgery. I hope it will get easier soon. Definitely worth it.

Thanks for the info Jill. I thought it was too good to be true. The docs offering the procedure give some info, but I definitely needed the opinion of others ho have seen it. Hope you feel well soon.

I guess the $3000-4000 that I was quoted for the procedure may be better spent on brachioplasty.

It will. I'm 6 weeks out and still have a tube in me! I know it will come out soon. It has totally been worth it! Best $10,200 I could ever spend!

I had it out for about a week and my stomach was all swollen. She took out 390cc's of Fluid on that Friday and had me come back the next Tuesday (she was out on the Monday doing surgery). When I went back on the Tuesday there was another 380 of Fluid so she put it back in. This one is pretty painful and always wanting to start to get red. I'm down to about 40 cc's a day but I'm not in any hurry. I don't want it out too soon and have the fluid come back. It seems this is normal. I had so much skin removed its just taking awhile to heal. I'm going to Mexico in 4 weeks for my breast lift and neck lift so I have to be totally healed. My port is sticking out a lot so I'm looking at prices to get that removed. Just the port right now because removing the lapband is almost as expensive as getting it put in.

I think it is important when considering plastics or any cosmetic procedure to consult with surgeons who had experience working on "massive weight loss" patients. Maybe not all of you fall in that category - but i did. I am down over 180# from my lifetime high. Your body changes with extended periods of obesity. It is different than the needs of someone who has a little middle age 10# extra on them.

I did hear about that procedure being useful for the turkey neck issue, but i think it depends on how much extra a person has. I plan to consult on face stuff - not a face lift, but things like injections as I have lost that upper cheek fullness as a result of weight loss and it makes me look older (I think so anyway).

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
