Scales At My Primary Drs Office

Recommended Posts

I went to my primary Drs office. Their scales showed I lost 32 lbs. It is a manual scale. The scale at True Results said I lost 22 lbs. That scale is digital. My primary Dr says they get their scales calibrated regularly. I wonder which one is right?

I would just pick one and go with it. My WLS office has me 10lbs over what I am at home, but since I weigh myself at home more, they told me to go by that one. So whatever one you use the most, go with that.

Buy your own scale and buy a good one. Then you won't have to compare or guess.

I agree with 2muchfun..buy your own scale. But invest in a good one and use that as your true weight. You will weigh closer to the WLS scale or your primary DR's scale so you will know which is your true weight.

when i was leader at TOPS, i had everyone bring in their home scale. i had each person weigh on the different scales to show how different and how fickle scales are. (weight was up and weight were down). scales are hard on someone trying to lose weight.

like the posters said, get one scale and go by those numbers.

EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology is a very accurate scale. I know others have also purchased this scale. My scale is smack dab between my PCP and WLS; admittedly only one pound. 10 pounds is a big difference.

You want to go by the scale that is calibrated regularly. If you buy your own scale are you going to have it calibrated every 3 months?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
