No Longer Losing...help, Ideas?

Recommended Posts

My weight has been stalled for the last few weeks. I have reviewed my food journal just to make certain nothing is out of the ordinary, and every thing is good and on target. I'm exercising several days a week, and get more than enough Water.< /p>

What have any of you done when your weight loss stalled?

Thanks,

P

P,

There have been weeks even months that I have not lost-I am not the most faithful with following my plan and I have had alot of family issues going on. The one thing that has worked consistantly is to INCREASE my Protein intake to a minimum of 60 grams per day for a week, it was recommended by my doctor and it really boosts your metabolism back up. You certainly do not feel hungry. She has even had me go to 80 grams in a day!!! Add a Protein Shake at night for a snacktime treat and see how it goes. Best of luck!! Celeste

My first question is how many days of exercise, how intense and for how long? Most doctors want at least 30 min of cardio 7 days a week. I am at a plateau even though I try to stay below 1200 cals and do 1-2 hours of moderate cardio 7 days a week.

Even counting calories how are your food choices? Some have luck eating less of all foods (including fried and or high calorie foods like: cheese, ice cream, chips, etc); while others have to "diet". I am the latter. If I would be embarrased to buy/eat something in front of my doctor I don't buy/eat it.

One thing I have noticed is that you can't keep the same calories count after you loose a significant amount of weight. If you were able to eat 1,500 calories at 300 pounds most likely you will need to drop that back as you loose weight. Think of weight watchers. You are even "x" amount of points depending on your weight, as you loose the weight, they drop the number of points.

Also, It might be time to shock your system.....do something completely different for a couple of weeks. If you aren't following a strict low carb diet, give it a shot.....it might be what your body needs, (and by strict, I mean no more than 40 carbs a day or less) If you already follow this, then maybe reintroduce carbs to the diet for a weekend. see if your body responds.

Consider all different exercises.....Our body gets complacent when we do the same exercises over and over...if you notice that they are so much easier to do now, than they were a month ago it is definately time to mix it up.

Make sure you are drinking enough Water...This is a hard one for me. Before the band the majority of my Water was consumed during meals. Now that that is a no no I tend to forget to drink it other times.....suddenly I realize I haven't had anything to drink that day and it will be 2:00. not good.....I actual set a alarm on my phone to chime ...Just to remind me to drink (crazy I know...makes me feel like I'm 80 ans can't remember to take my meds)

Hope that helps

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
