donna12 742 Posted July 6, 2012 I saw this on YouTube but was wondering from you guys: Ham or turkey roll ups with fat free cream cheese for a good source of Protein? Some people cut them in to pinwheels and I think some recipes call or chives??? A gastric bypass patient friend on Facebook of mine mentioned to look out for sodium content in the meat which is good to look out for but I was just trying to change up my menu and trying to get protein in. help. 1 hippychick74 reacted to this
colleenjoy 104 Posted July 6, 2012 sounds good. you know what might work as well? using laughing cow cheese instead of the cream cheese. might have to try that. I just did ham and cheese in lettuce wraps for lunch the other day. 1 donna12 reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted July 6, 2012 I would do that. again, pre-packaged meat has alot of sodium in it. would be something to eat as a quick on the go perhaps.
JustDoIt130 369 Posted July 6, 2012 That sounds like a really yummy lunch! I also do a lot of rotisserie chicken (I buy them on sale, pick them, and then package them up in 3 oz servings) with either black or refried Beans. Yummy!
Wtloss 75 Posted July 6, 2012 I just saw the nutritionist yesterday and she said some people have problems with rotisserie chicken because it usually drier. Just be careful if trying it for the first time.
MoreThanJustaPrettyFace 55 Posted July 6, 2012 if you buy quality sandwich meat, i don't see a problem. try to get a brand that is all natural with no preservatives. also, laughing cow cheese has a cream cheese now (it's new and i JUST found it). so yummy! i like adding a slice of Tomato to my roll-ups too
MoreThanJustaPrettyFace 55 Posted July 6, 2012 anoooother thing, if you happen to get a rotisserie chicken that's a little on the dry side: dip it in greek yogurt. i mix some ground onion, green onions, dill, and lemon juice in mine and it tastes delicious. the yogurt helps the dry chicken moisten up a bit and then it doesn't cause issues. hope that helps! DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted July 6, 2012 I eat that all the time. I usually cut up some chives into the cream cheese before making the roll-ups. @collenjoy- the Babybell is an excellent idea! I already mix that with tuna, I'm going to try it as a roll up too!
Missy05.29.12 13 Posted July 6, 2012 Boars head has a great low sodium turkey. Great source of Protein, low calorie, and low fat.
jen_1381 446 Posted July 6, 2012 Another fun Greek yogurt recipe (used it this 4th for veggie dip) is to add a packet of the Hidden Valley Ranch powder to some plain Greek Yogurt. I felt less guilty dipping the few veggies I had in it since it was a good source of Protein. It makes a good thick ranch dip.
donna12 742 Posted July 6, 2012 thanks everyone, I think I will try this for a quick and easy on the go or to have as a snack like one or two at night if I get hungry and only if I get hungry. Of course I live in a hick town so I will have to go to Publix in the next city over and look for laughing cow cheese. All I have to choose from is Kroger, Walmart and food Lion.
