I was banded June 6th. (dr did not put any Fluid in my band due to hernia repair and due his concern from excess swelling)

Do doctors put a fill in on the first month post op appts?

2 weeks ago, at my first post op follow up, nothing was mentioned

in regards to me getting a fill. But I read on this forum about people

who had surgery the same (time) or even after me, getting fills.

Am I missing something?

Def scared of (getting a fill). I don't want too much so I can't drink

per some postings but then again, I don't know that much about fills

to even gander a guess or an assumption.

Do you think I could get one today?

Or will they wait til my 2nd month post op August 3rd?

At 6cc I am so stuck I have to get unstuck I can not imagine that at surgery. Guess each of us is different . Fills do not hurt, they give you Water and you drink it and they listen, I happen to be a gurgler so we can hear the water going down. Fills are a piece of cake pardon my pun but we all went through wondering is this going to hurt.. Good Luck let us know how you do.

My band had no fill in it after surgery and first fill appointment was 6 weeks post op .. i think 6 weeks is probably the average time for post surgery fills, i was still on 2 weeks further of mushies when i had my first fill ... some get a fill after 4 weeks some after 8 weeks, its an individual doctor thing :)

I got my first at one month, and it was only 2cc. Some surgeons do their fills on a conservative basis and others like to fill you up really quick. It all depends on your surgeon. Please voice your questions about this to your surgeon, since they should be your right hand man.

Ok, I sound like a broken record, no fills until 3 months out of surgery.....

trying to not be irritated. Going to make that appointment this month and see if I can get it early and not have to wait until August 1st.

My surgery was 04/25/12, first fill on 05/23/12, 2nd fill 3 Weeks later. At surgery I had 3 cc even though I had a hernia repair also. First fill was .5 cc and I felt no difference/restriction, then my 2nd fill I got 1 cc and still no restriction with a total of 4.5 cc. Can't wait for another fill to get started in losing weight!

i dont think a dr will give a fill before at least six weeks to two months after surgery. it was two months for me. then i got 3ccs. No... you are not missing anything .. just relax, trust in the dates that the dr has given you for fills... concentrate on your food right now.

do you have any restriction just from the band itself? i did, right from the start.( nothing in the band at surgery either) im over three months out from surgery and have have 4ccs... and had 0.50 cc removed yesterday. it was too much. That was in three visits... two visits fill was added, yesterday some taken away

REgarding the procedure of the fill?? there is absolutely NOTHING to be concerned about... and i mean that. its painless and its very quick. Amazing really.

Yesterday , having that small amount taken out was quick and painless as well... no soreness after woods or anything... dont worry about the pain .. there is none.

Regarding the amount of fill?? your dr will ask you some questions... he will see the weight loss on your chart as you would have been weighed when you go in... and he will work out what amount you need... so dont worry. He is the professional and he knows what you need. good luck.

I am 10 months post-surgery and have been so discouraged with my weight loss so far. 10 months later and I have only lost 20 pounds. I have felt little or no appetite suppression or restriction up till this point. I have been trying to follow the diet and exercise and attribute my small weight loss to my efforts. But my problem still remains, I love food, love to eat and will overeat.

My doctor fills me only .5cc every 6 weeks. Between his vacation and surgery scheduled, coupled with the appointments that they have cancelled on me, I am just now at 5cc in a 10cc band.

Does anyone else have similar problems? Any recommendations?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
