I am a lifelong stomach sleeper and was banded 9/19.

It took a good month at least for me to be able to sleep on my stomach. I did find propping lots of pillows helped, and I was able to gradually increase from a few seconds, to a few minutes, etc until I could sleep for long periods of time.

Try not to rush things, you will eventually sleep on your stomach again soon. Congratulations on your decision to a healthier you!

The first night they kept me in the hospital. Oh My---thank was sooooo uncomfortable. When I got home, I just got my favorite pillows and blanket and went to the sofa. I slept there one night but it was uncomfortable and my arms hurt from trying to push up and adjust myslef . The next night I slept in an oversized leather chair with an ottoman. This was great. I slept all night long. I did this again the next night and it was great also. I then felt I was ready for my bed and my husband so I tried the bed, I have no trouble sleeping on my back or sides. The only trouble is getting out of bed. Oh well----I guess we can't have it all. I feel great today. I had the banding done 5 days ago. I'm doing great and feeling great. I don't like crushing all my medicines though. I'll get used to it. Everyone---------just hang in there. I can't wait to reinvent myself.

I'm a stomach sleeper too. The first 3 nights I was on the sofa kinda sleeping sitting up b/c it was hard getting in and out of bed. Then after that it was back to my stomach. Good luck.

I'm a former stomach sleeper (I got over it when I was pregnant.) but I could. I just don't like it now. My port is on my right side and I was worried because I am a right side sleeper. Except for the first night or two, I could sleep on my right side easily. It was my left side that was uncomfortable. Now, I can sleep in any position. Everything will be normal again. Not to worry.

I could sleep on my side right away, 1st night out, and I can sleep on my stomach now and I'm 11 days post op.

I'm a stomach sleeper too. For the past few days I've been able to be mostly on my stomach, but I guess I'm more half stomach/half side. I have to put a pillow under my port area otherwise it aches. Definitely better than on my back. The first week post-op I had such a hard time getting up from that position. It took a lot of energy. It's so nice to be back on my stomach where I belong!

isn't the port stitched into your muscle? how would it flip? I'm almost 4 weeks post op and still struggling to sleep on my sides. I've had a hard time with this as I hate to sleep on my back and especially my stomach. Just hanging in there till the pain passes hopefully some time soon.

I am about 1 1/2 weeks out and no stomach for me. My back is killing me. I have to sleep on my side and I have done as the others- put a pillow under one side of me to give me the feeling of sleep on mytummy! Get good pillows and take with you to the hospital.

I was able to sleep on my stomach the day after surgery. I slept on my sides the night of surgery. No one told me not to sleep on my sides.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
