Today I went for my check up after gallbladder surgery and my scale at home says I lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks (not banded) but frs office scale said I only lost 4!!! I was so upset! I've been doing so well with my diet and nasty Protein Shakes and exercising. I'm so depressed now!!

So the big thing is he told me it will be a few months, 2 or 3, untill I can be banded cause I need to drop 30 lbs. my BMI is too high. Sad and upset and need some encouragement!

And I'm seriously considering going to a medical weight loss clinic and getting appetite suppressant pills, Water pills, and B12 shots to help me drop the wright fast.....

Help

Stop...breathe..refocus.....Remember even if the Dr says he wants to wait, he is putting your safety first. That is an awesome Dr.

The better health your in at the time surgery probably also helps your recovery.

I agree with lauralou779, Relax, count to 3,and follow your doctors recommendation. He wants you to heal up from the previous surgery. Im familiar with the appetite suppressant pills, which you may want to stay away from them since they are a part of fen, fen, ( phentermine) which are known to sometimes increase blood pressure and Heart rate, something you dont want to happen. Stay motivated and focus on your long term goal, It will be OK.

I got told a week before surgery my bp was too high and I couldn't have it if it still was day of. What do you think that did to my bp? But instead of bursting into tears like I wanted I asked how I could fix it (for me it was adding a pill to the mix, giving it a week, and thankfully it worked) and then doing what he said. Sounds like a great dr. Yes frustrating. Cry or scream or vent if you want. And then do what he said - you'll be better off in the long run. I am so sorry though.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
