lovecats85 2 Posted March 13, 2006 Does anyone else have depression spells? I had them all the time pre-band of course, b/c I was so unhappy with my weight, etc. But now I find that I have some that are just as bad. I guess it's because it's hard to have forked out 13 thousand dollars and not get instant results. I am so happy to be losing the weight, but in a society of instant gratification it's hard to be 5 1/2 months out and not anywhere near looking the way I want to. I dunno, guess I need to just snap out of it.
Boo 3 Posted March 13, 2006 I haven't been banded yet, but I can relate. You have had a long, grueling educational career to earn a law degree. You also have made a lifetime change in your eating patterns. After extended stress, it is completely natural to feel some depression. You have worked so hard! And you are almost there!! Hold on! Fleur 0 Posted March 13, 2006 Dont be affraid to seek treatment for depression. I did two years ago and it was the second best thing I have ever done (the first being my decission to get a lap band). What you are going through is very common and very treatable. Ask your doctor.

Teresita 0 Posted March 13, 2006 lovecats you have to love you first before anything else can make you happy. I love you and a whole lot of people on this board loves you too. You have done a great job on your weight loss and getting a law degree. Come on now, girl you got it going on. WOW you are awesome!!!!!:clap2::clap2: Once you get your degree it will be time to find the job you want to utilize it. You wanna look good in that new suite so it sould like you need to get some exercise going on so the endorphines can kick in and give you some joy. What did you do for fun before school because you should be able to make some time for some fun after May and you will be able to put on some cute new clothes in a smaller size.:clap2::clap2:
Sunta 5 Posted March 13, 2006 I definitely understand what you're going through. I have been experiencing depression and anxiety since getting my band. My issues focus mainly on fear of the band itself; something going wrong with it: slippage, erosion, etc. I am constantly worried about it. I also have a feeling like "oh my gosh, what did I do!?!?" Certainly if I dont lose at a good pace, that will make me upset. I do find Wellbutrin helps me. I don't know where I'd be without it! I'm so glad I stayed on it after surgery because I know without it I'd be a mess. Maybe you could talk to your doctor about it. It doesn't cause weight gain and I do feel it's helpful. With regard to the weight loss, I would say to try and remember this is a long journey and it will take time to achieve the final goal, but you can do it!
