Sugar Free Energy Drinks

Recommended Posts

Are they ok to have? I was banded 6/19/12 and was wondering if it was ok to have a small sugar free red bull

I would say no because its carbonated and thats the ONE thing that my doctor is explicit that I cannot have.

I'm not a fan of energy drinks myself, but anything with carbonation should be considered "off limits". Like Ledavis, that was one thing my doctor was insistant upon, as well as my nutritionist.

Check with your doctor. If carbonation is in, though, just make sure you don't overdo it. That is a lot of caffeine.

Also, having sweets -- even sugar-free ones -- can just trigger more cravings. I know I struggle with that. For me it's a regular Coke or Squirt once in a great while, and the majority of the time I just avoid sweets -- especially in liquid form -- because I know I have a weakness. ;)

I would talk to your doctor. I think most doctors say no carbanation but my doctor says its okay if you pour it into a cup and let the fizz die down but in moderation.

No carbination. Also energy drinks are not great for you. People can OD on them because they have so much caffein. Caffein IS considered a drug by the FDA. My Nut. said one cup of coffee in the morning and then switch to Decaf so I would guess she would NOT approve of energy drinks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
