Meals For 1

Recommended Posts

Need some help with some meal ideas. I had my band done last nov and my weight loss has started to really slow down. I want to try some new meal ideas but find it hard because I live by myself and cooking such a small portion for one is very hard. I get sick of eating leftovers for the following few nights so if anyone has any ideas for quick easy n yummy meals I would love to know.

Once I have lapbound, I am just assuming a lot of food will go to waste for me. That's one of my biggest problems now. I eat eerything on my plate because I paid for it. Gotta mentally get out of that.

You could try an odd weight watchers frozen meal, those arent bad occasionally. I also keep things like a chicken breast in the freezer just take it out the day u eat it, butterfly cut it and bash it like an escalope, and dry fry for 2 to 3 mins , it is never dry then, individual fish portions like trout or sea bass or salmon, i tend to make some chilli in a batch and then freeze portions for days, i am cooking for 2 but during the summer i spend 1 day a week cooking then freeze the meals and take out each day, minced beef chillied with some mashed cauliflower , or peas or salad .. i will eat salad every day during the summer i love it u can make salad different by changing the dressing to ) fat different ones .. good luck i understand its a little uninspiring cooking for one but cook for the week and u may get some better inspiriation.

Actually what I do is buy a packet of ground turkey and cook it up in 4 ounce burgers then put in freezer bags. I usually do this for the week for my planned lunches. If I buy chicken breast for the week so I also cook the batch up for the week and freeze in freezer lock baggies. I also get can tuna for my fish days. I buy veggies and put them in little containers and then I buy a bag of lettuce mix. For fruit smoothies you can freeze the fruit in freezer bags too. I also make my own Soup this way for an alternate for lunch. :)

radarluv,

I take home my leftovers and eat them for meals the rest of the day. They are usually enough to feed you for the entire day and then some.

I know exactly how you feel. I live on my own with my 6 year old who is practically malnourished she eats so little (not really, but I never once forced her to clean her plate and she stops eating when she's full) so I'm pretty much just cooking for myself. My butcher does "singles" packs. It's a couple of steaks, a couple of sausages, some diced meat, some ground meat and some chicken pieces. You can choose if you want lamb beef or pork and if you want him to trim all the fat off. It's good for some variety. I'll make a small casserol, marinade the steak to make it ultra tender, make spag Bol, and curried sausages or something like that. You only make a small meal and there is little waste and you're not eating the same frozen meal 5 nights in a row.

i have been planning my meals and cooking them for the week on Sundays. usually i start by putting chicken or turkey in the crockpot with a half cup of Water the night before. then i use my steamed meats to make meals. this week i used chicken so i used different veggies and sauces on each serving to mix it up and put it in tupperware froze and they are ready to go:-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
