I'm sorry to hear about this. Sometimes a change in routine and stress (even during a fun vacation) can affect restriction. My only suggestion is to tank up on liquids and be very careful with your food choices.

Thanks jean. Will do. I had hubby get a case of Water for me so that will be it for the moment.

You might also want to look for something with Protein in it, like Slimfast in bottles.< /p>

Try to drink something hot, such as tea...and yes, definitely continue to get some Protein through shakes. Drinking something like hot tea helps me feel "looser".

I have recently become aware that driving and experiencing increased levels of stress will cause my band to feel much tighter. That's something I never expected!

I hope you are still able to enjoy your vacation!

i found out the hard way that being in a car for 8+ hours tightens my band. i agree to keep hydrated and Liquid Protein.< /p>

Could someone explain to me why riding in a car makes your band tighter?

I sit at a desk for 8 hours a day so I don't think it would be much different.

I ask because I have a 10 road trip coming up the 14th.

Thanks

I too am interested as to why this occures. I am getting banded in September but my family and I live in a smaller town and travel by car quite a bit, from long to very long drives pretty regularly and this concerns me. Is there anything that can be done to prevent these symptoms? What is the cause? Thanks!

I don't know why long car trips do that. Air travel can have the same effect. I think it's a combination of disrupted routine, stress, sitting still for hours on end, and perhaps dry air if you're riding with the windows up and the heat or A/C on (or in a plane, the pressurized cabin has very dry air). It doesn't have to be a big deal, though, if you're prepared, drink plenty of liquids, and stop to get out of the car and move around every hour or so.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
