My surgery is Wednesday 3/15/06

Recommended Posts

Carla: My first 48 hours were Clear Liquids, then plain(meaning milky, I guess) liquids through 2 weeks, then mushies. My mushies list includes grits, cream of wheat, oatmeal, tuna, salmon, deli-sliced meats, yogurt, soft veggies and soft cheese.

I see the P.A. on Wednesday this week. I don't know if I'll get a "FILL" or not, but I will be asking quite a few questions for clarification. (Things I didn't know to ask BEFORE surgery!)

When I get full, or if I drink a swig of Water with a "dry" food (like tuna), I get that "HEAVY" feeling in my chest as well. Yes, I think that's a full feeling. It's not the same as before surgery when I would just overeat, but I think that's our "signal" now that we're banded.

I am getting hungrier every day now. I guess that means I'm healing pretty well. I'm nervous over the thought of my first "FILL", but I also want to be more satisfied when I eat. I'm also frustrated because if I eat more than 800 cal/day I don't lose weight. SIGH.

But, with all the help here on LBT, I'll get by.

The worst is over....it's easier every day, I promise. We're on our way to a better life.

Yes Egg drop Soup is considered a clear liquid. Try to not injest the eggy part of it in the beginning. It is a wonderful source of Protein and it makes your belly feel sooooooo much better. Even though I have not been banded as of yet I was on clear liquids last year for a total of 7 weeks after surgery. What hell that is. God really helped me through it all and Kept me from killing someone, including myself. Egg Drop soup was a God send.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
