I will be experiencing my first holiday tomorrow. The hardest part is going to be all the food my dad is cooking. I am still on the full liquid stage and even watching my dad get the meat prepared has been so hard.

I know I did this for my health and my future but I'm having those thoughts of why did I do this??? Hopefully I can get through it ok and keep my head straight and towards my goal.

Happy 4th everyone!!!

So sorry. I am feeling a little blue too. I am on pre-op diet and we are having a huge cookout. I am just going to swim and try to ignore the food.< /p>

you will be fine. I got surgery on November 18th, right before Thanksgiving. I was still on liquids. I jjust made sure I had my chicken broth with me and drank it when it was dinner time and drank gatorade while we were socializing. You will get throught it! It is only one day and there will be plenty more July 4ths!

Yea I had several times especially during Pre op liquid that I felt the same way... But, it's just one day and there will always be more holidays and stuff! Just know that this Louis diet is temporary but also necessary for your operation and mentally! It will help for post op!! I am on day three post op and already used to the liquid diet so it's helped so much!

I was on my pre op diet over memorial day weekend so I totally understand. It's hard, but it's only 1 day and with some planning you will be ok. Good luck!

That was me last year!!! Luckily, I was still in bed, not feeling well from the morhine they gave me in the hospital and I didn't go anywhere...........BUT...........this year I am at my goal, 105lbs lighter, getting ready for the gym and later going to a BBQ where I know I can realistically handle the food and enjoy myself! It is only one holiday and it's so importnant to follow the Dr.'s orders!!! You can do it!!!

i feel you pain, only i'm 14 months post op and my band is too tight(going in for an unfill on friday), so even if i wanted to cheat i cant! ugh! luckily i'll be at my sister's house and they know about my band so it wont seem strange that i'm not eating what they eat. it does suck though cuz this is my favorite holiday. know you are not alone!!!

I understand ! I was banded 4/6/12 2 days before Easter !! Oh my God my mind was going crazy thinking about it the day before as all the meal prep was being done. I could only have Clear Liquids on Easter Sunday so my mom spiced up some broth. But I found that I had no appetite. And did not feel as deprived as I thought I would.Goidluck today.get creative ! :-)

Hang in there. Look at jenjaw over 100 lbs lighter! Awesome Let's picture ourselves on July 4, 2013. Yesterday I cooked for a family BBQ the hardest thing was not being able to taste anything. I always taste to see if I need more of something. I had to keep asking my husband does this taste OK?

Gosh I thought I'd be ok today but while everyone is sitting eating burgers (something I've been craving for like 2 months!!) and other yummy food...I came to the livingroom. I can't stand it :(

I know everyone is right, I have to think about a year from now and where I will be. And think how worth it will be. Sigh

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
