Just left the office after my second fill. It was performed by a nurse practitioner. She had a hard time accessing the port. I think I was stuck 3-4 times. She attributed it to my position on the table. She had someone come in and assist her with holding the skin down and port in place and she says she got it. I did not feel any Fluid enter the band which I did with my first fill. So my question is can you miss and if she did where would the fluid go? I didn't feel anything different when I drank my Water which agian I did the first time. I went from 2cc to 3.5 bc I live 2 hours away so I want to take it slow to ensure I don't have to come back for an unfill. My surgeon did the first fill so I guess I felt more confident the first time. Just some extra info my port is located in my left breast. Any suggestions or similar experiences??

My port is on my breast bone, they tend not to move /fliip as much sited there as it is stitched to bone and not muscle. You still dont have much Fluid in your band so u are unlikely to feel much different with the restriction as yet. I can feel the fluid going in if the fluid they use is very cold, if its nearer body temperature i cant feel it. Its still a matter of willpower for you at the minute but be patient the next couple of fills should see some difference :)

I got my 3rd fill this morning and what I did was lay flat on the table and then brought my chin up to my chest and made my stomach muscle contract and it makes finding the port easier. Being stuck 3-4 times for a single fill I could see that hindering your confidence in the person doing it.

I would request an appointment with your actual Surgeon and see if he can do the next fill and inform him of your experience. Even if your intent is not to get anyone in trouble he still needs to know if one his/her people need some training.

My place doesn't use lidocane and I am a pretty big guy and they have have no problem finding my port. One shot equals a fill. I never bruised with any of the the three that I've had. A little bit of blood is all.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
