lrhodes46 55 Posted July 3, 2012 My EGD is over and I have a hiatal hernia. So now my insurance has to cover the hiatal hernia repair. I will end up paying 5500 for my lapband with imbricatioon. Now to call for my pre-op. 1 tflemon67 reacted to this

jen_1381 446 Posted July 3, 2012 I was surprised that I had a hiatial hernia - a pretty significant one - that they found during surgery. My surgeon said that about 50% of people have them and don't know it. I used to throw up a lot when I had Migraines a few years ago, he said I probably caused it then. Explains the persistant heartburn Congrats on the hernia 1 tflemon67 reacted to this
adorkbl 156 Posted July 3, 2012 Congrats I guess? Lol. I have one too... but I am 4 years post op. I am having mine repaired Monday and my band will be repositioned then. Luckily my insurance is covering it!! I was self pay and worried they wouln't cover the repositioning. 2 lrhodes46 and binab reacted to this

ygarza 10 Posted July 3, 2012 My EGD is over and I have a hiatal hernia. So now my insurance has to cover the hiatal hernia repair. I will end up paying 5500 for my lapband with imbricatioon. Now to call for my pre-op. That's exactly what I paid. My insurance denied me at the last min, I already had a surgery date. So a friend told me to go to true results and they found a hiatal hernia and my ins covered that. 1 tflemon67 reacted to this
tflemon67 88 Posted July 3, 2012 Sounds like True Results is making it happen for a lot of people. I'll have my surgery as well via the Hiatal hernia repair and only $5500 out of pocket which True Results will finance. I'm not sure why insurers don't embrace weight loss surgery instead of a lifetime of high blood pressure meds, diabetic meds and a host of other obesity related meds. lrhodes46 55 Posted July 3, 2012 I am with you on this one. True Results is great and they help the patients any way they can. As soon as my insurance denied me, my patient advocate let me know about checking for the hernia. I was surprised I had one. Very glad they had me do the EGD.
