I have PCOS... I have tried every type of diet, pill, etc and still gain. Had a hysterectomy at 34 and 3 pulmonary embolisms when pregnant with my daughter.. Im 375-390lbs and I eat right and dont drink cokes, etc. I have no self esteem and hate having relations with my husband. Im so tired, depressed, and no one listens(doctors). I have BCBS of Tn, do they cover lap band? I cant afford out of pocket, dont do credit, loans due to my ex-husband. What can I do? Any ideas? I have 2 beautiful kids and a wonderful hubby... I want to be healthy again. :) ty!

Call your insurance, they will tell you if it is covered and requirements you have to meet.

Good luck to you.

I know all BCBS is different, but I had BCBS of VA, although I live in Tennessee, and they covered my surgery 100%. If you're in the Nashville area, you can go to Baptist Metabolic Surgery Center, and they have an insurance specialist that will contact your insurance company and she'll let you know all the "hoops" you have to jump through, at no cost to you, of course.

Also, Dr. Morton at BMSC does lapband with plication, which is much better than just lapband alone, in my humble opinion. My only regret about my surgery is that I opted not to have plication!

Good luck!

Visit with your doctor and tell him what you want to do~ they can help move you in the right direction to get started. BCBS in NY is covering my surgery as well. There is HOPE... I am so looking forward to less medical issues! Even losing the pre-surgery weight has been such an enlightenment~have benefited by being able to move more, more energy less back pain and knee pain! Have faith and make that first call...you don't know unless you try & good luck!!!

I was in the same boat. Except my pcos started at puberty and my hysterectomy was at age 30. I went into a lb consult and explained my situation and begged for help. That was march 2012, my surgery was june 2012. They may help you, vut make an appt. to talk to them.

I have PCOS and having lapband surgery this week. Did PCOS cause you to get a hysterectomy? I hope that lapband surgery can help you. Battling weight is tough.

Yes pcos was why I had to get one.... Cysts, enlarged uterus, tumors, beginning of endometriosis. I just went to doctor today and gained 3 pounds. I follow Curves low carb high Protein diet, work out everyday

Its frustrating...

I didn't know that about PCOS. Don't be discouraged by the 3 lbs. Keep following the Curves and I'm sure you will see results soon. Our bodies fluctuate in weight in everyday, I don't think 3 lbs is anything to worry about at all. Just stick to your plan and I'm sure it will work :D

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
