I'm one week post op and I made it through one week of Clear Liquids and a 10 pound weight loss. Yippeee! Saw the doctor today for post op and she said all looked great and removed my steri strips (they were irritating my skin). She then said I could move on to pureed foods. I was so happy because I have been STARVING the past 3 days. The kicker - I get to be on them for three weeks!!! Isn't that a long time? She said the extra time is because I had a hernia repair and she doesn't want to push it. Anyone got any creative ideas for pureed foods that don't include baby food or blended meat? Thanks!!!

..i reckon anything can be pureed within reason... i go for something with more flavour.

i used to make a smoked salmon pate which i made slightly runnier than a solid one so u can blend the salmon but get a nice taste too if u like salmon. I made green veg Soup which was literally pureed cooked green veg added a few chilli flakes and parmesan , still have it everyday for lunch a year and half later, i put 4 mug fulls of frozen peas in it as they have Protein in too. Home made Soups are an ideal puree food tons of recipies on the net, broccoli and stilton, carrot and coraiander just make a big pot to l;ast u a good few days .Just dont go adding cream, add greek yoghurt or creme fraich or ricottoa all )% fat ofc .

and no 3 weeks isnt bad for pure, i was on that 4 weeks :)

Well, I would consider you lucky because I had 1 week clears, 1 week full liquids before going to thin mushies for week 3. Week 3 I could have yogurt, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese. Week 4 canned chicke or tuna.

One recipe that I liked was ricotta, cottage cheese (low fat) with smooth spagetti sauce baked in the oven and grated parmesian on top.

Egg whites with low fat laughing cow cheese.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
