Please Stop Beating Yourself Up

Recommended Posts

Taking the step to have LapBand surgery does not mean that we are cured. It's a process, a journey. There will be good days & bad days. What counts the most is that we're growing & we are all healthier. We can all play with our kids/grandkids w/out feeling like we're going to die. We can all get of the meds we are on. We can all take a flight of stairs, no problem. & we can all have skinny sex, yes I said it.

I see lots of post where we are simply our worst enemy & beat ourselves up for habits we have had for a lifetime. If we eat something were not suppose to, it's okay. We're on a journey & we will make mistakes. Any weight loss is good & we should all Celebrate milestones other than weightloss. Like today I took my blood pressure & it was in the normal range. It hadn't been normal in years. Sweet! I didn't weigh myself & don't care if I'm up or down. There are so many other things we can focus on even if just for a short time.

Stay positive & keep moving forward. We can do it!

Thanks Tina, nice post. I was doing exactly that last night, beating myself up. I am in bandster hell right now and didnt make the best choices last night. I fell into my old habit of eating during the night (yes, I know... bad!) and I feel horrible today! I am trying to chalk it up to I have 40 years to unlearn. Its hard to do. I did better today, I am determined to do better tonight. One night at a time!

Exactly well said post...I am more thrilled at the fact that I no longer have to lay down during the day for a nap from exhaustion,i WAS on 12 insulin shots a day and since being banded on May 16 2012 I have not had to take not the first shot!!!These are the results I was looking for..Yes I would be lying if I said I wasnt curious about the pounds Im losing but that is the least of my worries.Yes I have lost approx. 33 lbs since May 1st wene I started my pre op diet and Yes I have bad days but mostly good days..So to all of us no matter were u are at in this journey keep positive and I say this to myself too because I make poor choices once in a blue moon, I still feel no restriction, (going for 2nd fill) on July 5th but no matter what Lovemythree is rite there is so much more to look forward to than just getting on the scale and seeing the loss or gain yup Ive had both..We can feel the improvements or at least I can DAILY!!! WITH that I would like to thank my band for the help...Good luck to you all.

33 lbs is awesome. No insulin is even better. My hubby is diebetic & was banded last week & i can't wait for him to be off insulin. It's hard I know, I ate a bag of choc covered raisins last week in 2 days. No fill for me yet down 12. Day by day:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
