cmoody821 44 Posted July 2, 2012 Is there a reason I shouldn't have any type of dairy within the first two weeks of sugery?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted July 2, 2012 Only if you are lactose intolerant or your doctor specifically told you not to. I was drinking skim milk and having sugar free pudding within days of surgery. 1 Cazzy reacted to this

ygarza 10 Posted July 2, 2012 I'm 6 days banded and have been on liquids. Yesterday I had oatmeal with milk and had no problems. Wondering if cottage cheese would be ok to eat. Does anyone know?
LouisianaLiLi 231 Posted July 2, 2012 My surgeon allows Cottage cheese in full liquids, but check with your Dr/Nutritionist to be sure.

jessasmile78 6 Posted July 2, 2012 My nutritionist and surgeon advise against milk because anything with the word tose in it processes as a sugar and can slow down weight loss. Lactose, fructose, ect., but It's true each surgeon seems to have slightly different approach. 1 LouisianaLiLi reacted to this
cmoody821 44 Posted July 2, 2012 I have had a hard time eating and have lost 7 lbs in the last four days, so I was hoping to try something besides broth. So far, so good. I only got about a half a cup down but it wa amazing!
honk 780 Posted July 2, 2012 My doctor wanted Clear Liquids for 7 days, but I could also have Protein Shakes (yes those were not clear). For me cottage cheese was a mushie which I could not have until week 3.

LouisianaLiLi 231 Posted July 2, 2012 I drank tea and coffee from day 1 with skimmed milk .. for the Protein at least I'm jealous Cazzy. I am caffiene free for another 2 weeks. My body needs coffee. I've also been drinking Decaf iced tea. That doesn't bother me as much as it is the flavor of the tea that I like, but I really MISS my coffee.
Cazzy 725 Posted July 2, 2012 Isnt it strange how things like tea and coffee in the UK are allowed and to my knowledge that seems pretty much across the board here with all different surgeons. I never drink it strong and i always add a good slug of milk, maybe the US surgeons think if they give u permission to drink coffee u will get to drink starbucks ( or another make ! ) non stop all day long lol etc ... Now i would have died without my cups of hot tea
LouisianaLiLi 231 Posted July 2, 2012 I have been drinking hot tea in the mornings to "fake" the coffee ritual. I love my Decaf teas, but they are not coffee. LOL
NWgirl 574 Posted July 2, 2012 Some Dr's only allow clear liquids the first week, but two sounds a little excessive...
