I am 3 months post op and have had one 2cc fill. I can eat anything just in much smaller quantities. I am concerned that sometimes if I eat to fast or am not paying attention to what I am doing I tend to over eat. When I say over eat it still is only about 1/2 of what I used to could eat. I immediately feel guilty and not to mention miserable for the next few hours. I can deal with that but it scares me that I might be stretching my pouch. This does not happen very often but it still scares me.

For me I am only 5 weeks post op and haven't had any fills at all so for me to be on the safe side I stick to the 1/2 cup rules when I eat. I weigh and measure everything.

You're not. You would be in pain if you were. Also, it appears your stoma is still too open to allow you to stretch your pouch. You would feel the "stuck" episodes and it wouldn't be pretty. You would know.

Caveat: There was one poster who stretched hers out without knowing it but she's the only one I've seen who wasn't aware.

yea stuck episodes is not fun indeed. First it just sits there stuck then the uncomfortable pain in the chest and then the sliming. It usually happens if I eat too quickly. Once in a while I will get the hiccups and that is a sign for me.

Thanks everyone. Maybe I have just forgotten how bad it feels to over eat and be stuffed. 2nd fill is tomorrow morning. Maybe it will help some

Honestly, what you need to understand is satiety because if you over eat to the point of what you perceive as full it could leave you feeling very uncomfortable. With the band you really have to listen to your body because the full feeling you had before the band is not necessarily the same with the band. Almost like a delayed sign to stop eating.

I don't know. I am having a hard time articulating what I am trying to say.

Jim is right (I get what you are saying), the full feeling is not the same. You are not going to get that full belly I just ate the whole Thanksgiving turkey feeling. It is much much more subtle.

My most frequent soft stop signal is a sigh. If I ignore that one I might get a runny nose. Of I really push it, I get the hiccups. And by push it it, I mean ignore my soft stops.

Sometimes if I just take too big of a first bite, I get stuck right off the bat. And that is a miserable miserable experience.

I can't overeat like I used to unless it is slider foods or I am eating and eating and eating over a long period of time.

You need to concentrate on satiety. Stop eating when you get that soft signal. Listen to your body and not your brain. My brain always wants more. Because it tastes good. Because it is there. My brain is what got me to 384 pounds.

Sounds like you need more restriction if you are able to overeat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
