I had my lapband surgery on 4/25/12. I am seriously interested in getting a breast reduction in october. Is there anyone else out here who is considering or thought about having a breast reduction.

I had a breast reduction several years before my lap band surgery and honestly it was one of the best decisions I've made. So much more comfortable -- no sore back, no bra straps digging in my shoulders. I say if you want it and can afford it (insurance paid for most of mine) ... go for it!!

I am thinking about getting one. I am a size J! and am 55 years old. I guess I just think it is better to lose my weight before the surgery.

I loved having big breasts but now they just feel so heavy and, of course, are saggy.

I had one years ago and they took off 9 pounds. I was a tripe I

and my shoulders are now wonderful and relaxed. If you can, I say go for it.

Thank you for the advice. I would like to know would it make a big difference if i would only be 6 months out of surgery in october. I am scheduled for my first visit on 08/20/12 and i am so excited because my back is killing me. When i try to exercise it kills my back. I know that my insurance will cover it because i was pre-approved before but was scared to have it done.

It kind of depends on how much weight you still have to lose. Not sure if you're self pay. Insurance usually has guidelines. I had mine in November. I love it. I wasn't at goal about 20 lbs away. Good luck.

The only thing against having breast reduction before you are at goal weight is that u may lose more than u bargained for when u lose weight and hit goal, i always had a large bust but i lost nearly all my weigh from them.

I know how much of a pain large breasts are and i understand fully why u want them done but i would just be worried that u will have a reduction then if u lose more weight u will lose more size on your chest, but that is something to speak to the plastic surgeon about i suppose it all depends how much fat you carry in your breasts :)

good luck with it anyways, i shall have my lift on my breasts next year as i have gone from large breasts to quite saggy ones now .. ugh :) ( but then i am a lot older )

I am seriously considering getting a reduction as well. I'm waiting till I'm in onderland though just in case I end up with nothing.

I believe some insurance carriers require after weight loss usually 1-2 years of steady weight before approving, depending on your plan. Self-pay of course is your own personal choice, however just as Cazzy said you deff. may want to wait 'after' you have lost the weight and have got to your weight goal to do this because you will not see true results in your surgery.

I had a reduction a few weeks after I turned 18 (I'm 28 now). It was one of the best things I ever did for myself. I went from a DD to a full C. I had been a DD for about 3 years and had bad upper back and neck pain. I do not regret my decision at all, even though I did experience a lot of changes afterwards (numbness still in spots, loss of sensation as well as my scars not healing very well).

One thing that I have noticed though is now that I'm losing weight, my boobs seemed to take the first loss. My bras are too big now, which is crazy because I used to worry about bras being too small! I don't mind, it's keeping me porportionate - but my husband did say "Remember - I didn't sign up for that!!" He was kidding of course, but he noticed the shrinking!

This would be my fear for anyone getting breast reduction half way through their weight loss journey, but as i said previously it may well be that u have very little fat in your breasts, which can be checked out with a mammagram in which case u wont lose much at all when u lose more weight :)

Just proceed with caution and make sure u ask the PS all the questions relevant to your weight loss journey and the effects on a breast reduction :) expert advice is nearly always the best !

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
