I Back And I So Mad With This Surgery

Recommended Posts

You need to work on the emotional eating, it won't go away. I also have this, and when I get overstressed or emotional, I try to occupy myself with other things so I don't eat.

If you need to, look into seeing a counselor or psychologist who can help you figure out why you are overeating. Also, if you are going to eat, find something healthy that tastes good (fruit, popcorn, etc).

Are you able to eat popcorn?

My husband and son will make it and it smells so good but I am afraid to eat it. I did pop a couple of kernals into my mouth once and then spit out the hulls because I was afraid they might get stuck. I probably should still try to stay away from it. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to stop at a reasonable amount if I am able to eat it.

When you get a fill it will work great for awhile, until you lose more of the fat around your actual stomach and the band is not as tight. You should be going for fills every month. And you may only have ye great restriction for a week or two and then you lose more fat around the stomach, and the cycle repeats itself. That's why they say that the most successful band patients are those who are seen more frequently at surgeons office for follow up appointments.

Are you doing the Protein shakes? Are you focusing on Protein?

37 pounds in 2 months is huge. I don't understand why your upset? Sounds like you should focus on emotional eating & resetting your expectations. Maybe see a counselor to help you with that. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
