Kate rules 43 Posted July 2, 2012 Doc told me I had to stop BC month before surgery. Luckily no period during surgery but they are medical professionals and this is just another part of our anatomy.
LouisianaLiLi 231 Posted July 2, 2012 I had my period during my lap band surgery. They did not let me wear underwear or a tampon or anything. But when I woke up, they had put a pad between my legs. It was very embarrassing, but I'm sure I wasn't the first one that they had had on the table who was menstrating. I was right smack in the middle of my cycle for my surgery. I was however allowed a tampon for surgery. I didn't have any problems, but like the others have said, just check with your surgeon. Good Luck
newskinnygal 51 Posted July 2, 2012 Thanks to everyone for the replies...I guess every surgeon is different when it comes to BCP. I'm glad that being on a period shouldn't effect anything either! Thanks again!
jacqulinep 6 Posted July 3, 2012 My surgeon had me stop my bc pills 30 days before surgery and 30 days after due to the risk of blood clots .
puppyphat 397 Posted July 3, 2012 I've been planning my band for a LONG time and knew that fertility was increased after and that I did not want to fall pregnant until I was at goal. As I already have 1 BCP baby I didn't trust it after surgery so I got the implanon 4 months ago. Obgyn said it would take 3 months for hormones to settle down and I haven't had a single period yet. Surgery next month, I have a garantee that I won't be bleening for surgery and a very minimal chance of falling pregnant in the next 2 years after. Hopefully enough time to get to goal. Something to consider for those that have time on their side before surgery.
Kmom2 12 Posted July 5, 2012 I was on my period when I had my surgery. Surgeon didn't say anything about it.....had the surgery, did fine. I'm not on BCP, so I don't know about those affecting the surgery or medications, sorry. I had no problems. 1 LouisianaLiLi reacted to this

Wonder how much weight everyone's lost before their cycle started again??
