One Size Lap Band Fits All?

Recommended Posts

I know there are different sizes of Lap Band capacities (10 cc, 14 cc, etc...), how is it determined who gets what?

Also I'd like to know if you have the Lap Band already in place, what size do you have and why...? Thanks!

I will do my best to tell what I know . You make the decision if you want the realize band or the lap band . Both are bands different makers an a lurks different in style . The surgeon decides what size / cc's you get . From my understanding the realize band has one size , while the lap band has 2 .

I was banded on April 25,2012 and I choose the lap band and have a 10cc band in . As of this morning I'm 38 lbs down . And I think it's the best thing I have ever done with the exception of having my kids !!!!!

I have had my first fill I got 4.8 cc in and haven't had any trouble at all . I hope this helps you and I didn't ramble to much .

Some surgeons install both types and some only do one or the other.

My surgeon only does allergan lapband's and chooses the size of the band at the time of surgery when she can evaluate your stomach size.

Man I stink at this !!!

I choose the lap band because Dr. Jessee had the choice between the two sizes , and the realize band to some said it was more forgiving .

I know me and if I'm given inch I want a mile , if you know what I mean . So to

Keep me on that straight and narrow line , I choose what I felt was best for me .

You need to remember this is a personal journey , yes we are all on it . But what is right for one person might not be the best for the next .

Research it , talk it over with the surgeon

, it is very expensive and your paying for their and their office staffs knowledge so why not use it .

I am 100% sure you will make the right choice , Heck you already have by looking into the surgery . And I also know there is alot of good facts out there and just as much bad !!!

But keep in mind some if not alot of the bad has to do with the person not following the rules. And yes there are rules and yes you will diet in a since . The band is only a tool , and if not used right you will have buyers remorse !!!!

Good luck on your journey, we are all here for you , good or bad :)

I have a 10cc band in.. my surgeon chose it. Right now I have 7cc of Fluid in it and a good amount of restriction.

I have not heard of anyone getting to choose the size of the band, I heard it had to do with the tummy size.. Besides I didn't look inside so I will let that aspect be up to the doc.

The size of your lap band is determined by the size and shape of your stomach. I have a 14cc band due to the fact that my stomach is shorter and rounder. If you have a longer thinner stomach then you can have a 10 cc band. My surgeon explained this to me at my post op visit.

Is the allergen band just a brand or does it actually differ from other bands?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
