get your plate sit down, close your eyes and keep them closed

take a bite of your food, put the fork down, keep the eyes closed remember

and chew, lift your fork, take another bite chew

keep going

you will find that you wont know how much youve eaten, but you will be full up and will think youve eaten a lot and cant eat anymore

now open your eyes

you will see that youve eaten about half of what you normally eat

:hungry:

this is because your brain is now concentrating on the food not on what it looks like or subconsciously telling you to clear your plate.

as soon as you open your eyes you will want more even though a second before you were full, dont eat anymore put the plate in the kitchen and wait a while the feeling of fullness with come back right away

try it its really amazing

Hi there,

That sounds like a very good idea to do. Thanks for that tip. See I have 15 days till the surgery, I'm 305.5 the last time I look lol. Those tips you just gave to me are just some of the ? I have. 1 that I would like to know is what about drinking with your meal(I know you shouldn't) but I think that is one thing that will be very hard for me to do any suggestions?

if you drink during the meal, it will wash the food into your big tum much faster leaving you feeling hungry, it could also mean that if you have some food lodged and are about to PB the weight of the liquid on top of the lodged food will make the PB much more painful and last longer

wait for half an hour after eating to drink. its much more productive and helps you lose weight much faster Ive found.

dont worry, you will be so full after eating that you wont be particularly bothered about a drink.

good luck let me know how the eating with your eyes closed worked

How about just closing your eyes througout the entire process? You will have to FIND your food. Soon you will be so frustrated, you will just quit out of frustration and exhaustion. And think of how fun it would be to watch you?

In order to stop drinking and eating at the same time. Sit at the table and take small bites and really concentrate on chewing your food really well. I kept a glass of Water on the table for myself..at the other end. If you do those few things you can break the habit...I thought that was going to be the hardest habit to break...it turned out to be the easiest.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
