FatGirlFitGirl 179 Posted July 1, 2012 I have been to 5 of my 7 required Dr. Visits and I was advised by True Results (Houston) that on my next Visit I would be having an EKG performed and I would be speaking with a nutritionist. I have no Idea what I should expect from either. Somebody help me out here LOL Sent from my DROID RZR Maxx using LapBandTalk

DeAna N 229 Posted July 1, 2012 My EKG I just had ti not eat anything 12 hours before they put me to sleep I woke up and it was done not much prep for that my nutritionist went over my pre-op diet and my diet after being banded it was very informative and it was all done
FatGirlFitGirl 179 Posted July 1, 2012 I guess they stick the little things to you during the EKG? I've been waiting on more information about my diet right before and after surgery. At least I finally feel like it's happening! I was starting to get discouraged after 5 months of visits. They only lasted 15 minutes (not complaining) I was weighed, Talked to then done for another month. I just did not feel like anything was happening. It's almost here though. alley-gator 96 Posted July 1, 2012 Sammy an ekg that measures your heart rhythm is really easy...usually you get into a gown and they put 12 sticky things on you. These are attached to cords and then you hold still for about 30 seconds, and that's it! Not sure on the nutritionist, I haven't been yet!
FatGirlFitGirl 179 Posted July 1, 2012 Thank You Alley! Thats what I thought. Quick=Good LOL Sent from my DROID RZR Maxx using LapBandTalk

lolitawantsaband 45 Posted July 1, 2012 The nutritionist just discuss with you the importance of eating healthy. They will go over the wls diet and also will go over how many calories, fats, sodium & carbs you should take in to lose weight now. You will get examples of diet menus and you will ask questions and they will try to answer them. This is what happened at my visit. Yours could be different but I will say that I went thinking this would be boring and why do I have to do this. But, by the time I left out of there I was very impressed with my nutritionist. I learned a lot from her and my visit took about 2 hours because she educated me and I was happy to learn. I laughed at myself when I left out because I thought I knew it all but I really didn't lol. 2muchfun 8,927 Posted July 1, 2012 Lolita is so right. One of the biggest downfalls of bandsters who do not do well is that they do not utilize their nutritionists enough. Your nutritionist will understand your needs much more than most surgeons. Get to know him/her and be prepared to go over your eating habits. Be brutally honest about what you eat. No sugar coating And do not hesitate to contact your nutritionist after surgery if you should meet a plateau or backslide. tmf
honk 780 Posted July 1, 2012 My nutritionist meetings were a waste of time. In my preop phase I lost 50 pounds (7.5 months). We would discuss my food choices and she would weigh me. Many Americans just don't understand good/normal/healthy eating habits and part of this journey is learning those habits. This is not a diet. Diets have an end date. We need to learn and implement new ways of eating and how we think about food in general.

Nyt 19 Posted July 1, 2012 The nutritionist visit is different from each place is my guess. I've been seeing that most people for pre-op are on a liquid diet, mine has me on Atkins Phase 1. The nutritionist isn't that bad. So don't worry. If you are paying attention to what you eat and if it's good for you, you should be fine. There's some learning that goes with each new thing we do.
