According to research, and i think Alex mentioned this, your body can only metabolise around 25 to 30 grms of Protein at any time so be careful not to overload your system, some people will be ok having an intake of protein that big, but i had type 2 diabetes and if u eat too much protein it metabolises into glucogen and will be stored as as fat , .. it sounds good to experiement and make something that u can tolerate but be aware that amount in one go might not be the greatest method to get your daily intake in :)

i add milk or Water to my Protein and put in freezer until it gets to a consistency i like and then drink it up. YUM. def saved me during all my 4 weeks liquid pre/post op diets (and putting in ice cube trays helps also).

I was making our Protein and meal shakes at night to save time in the mornings, and it turns out that they thicken nicely in the refrigerator overnight. It's like McDonald's, except healthy! :P

It's just a little weird, because I still sometimes get that guilty cheating-on-my-diet feeling when I have one! :D

Do you blend the shakes before freezing them?

I freeze my premier protien ready to drink shakes after I blend them with the PB (powdered Peanut Butter) and let it freeze about an hour and then blend it again to make sure it does not separate. I have a small blender with a ready to drink glass on it and I freeze it and eat it like ice cream. Because it blends it it larger and fluffy and it tastes just like chocolate ice cream. I am a night eater and it is perfect. takes about an hour to eat frozen and it 160 calories 5 carbs 3 grams of fat. Yummy!! 30 grams of Protein. Been doing this the last 2 weeks!! I buy them at Sam's 18 FOR $18.99

That is my drink of choice also. Mostly because they are low carb (i'm a type 2 diabetic) and taste pretty decent.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
