tiggergramma 129 Posted July 26, 2012 Read this- No Aleergan bias in this article http://www.ncbi.nlm....les/PMC1421324/ High Lapband Failure rates!!! But that article is from 2001, so Allergan was not even making the new band my surgeon is using then. We are now into a 3rd generation lap band, plus laparoscopic surgery has improved as well. Karma88 7 Posted September 9, 2012 Read this- No Aleergan bias in this article http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1421324/ High Lapband Failure rates!!! The date on this seems to be 2001. Is that correct. If so, I'm certain there have been many advances and changes in the devices and how the procedures are being done.

ChicagoRose 650 Posted September 9, 2012 The good news about there being more than one weight-loss surgery is that there is one that is right for each of us. I am choosing the lap band because this was a drastic step as it is for me and I am not comfortable removing part of my stomach at the current time. I feel like the band will keep me acountable since I will have to keep up with my surgeon for fills, etc. If I chose a different surgery and it doesn't work for me, I think my options will be more limited. These are just my personal reasons, GOOD LUCK!
