chlyno98 0 Posted June 29, 2012 I was having pain when I was eating yesterday. It was like a rock was in my stomach. I was only eating yogurt btw. Called the doctor right away and they had me come in of course. I did the barium swallow and everything seemed to be moving through ok. But the band was sitting at a weird angle. The doctor decided to do a complete decompression and she wants to remove it with in the next month. Now I have to decide if I want to just remove it, remove and have the gastric sleeve, or remove and have bypass.
pnsbamafan 4 Posted June 29, 2012 Oh my! I'm so sorry to hear that! What a decision to make. Just research and think long and hard. At least you have a little bit of time to think.

mommykristie 59 Posted June 29, 2012 What is your doctor's reasoning for removing it rather than removing the saline and starting over? Just curious.
chlyno98 0 Posted June 29, 2012 She doesn't want to remove the saline and start over because of the angle it is sitting at and the pain I was having. I think this is a good thing. I seemed to have a lot of problems with the band.
samomom 19 Posted July 15, 2012 Go for the sleeve! It has been easier for me since I had my band removed Monday and the sleeve done. Everyone at some point in their life will need the band removed. It was not meant to be left in anyone for life. Melissa 2 BRAVOGOLFTANGO and Sleeved&Hopeful reacted to this

sandra07 17 Posted July 16, 2012 Why do people keep saying this?!?! It IS meant to stay in for life. Exactly!! Is meant to stay in forever is a permanent implant only to be remove if there is complications!!! Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
MrsBerggren 6 Posted July 18, 2012 My band slipped a couple months ago and I am revising to bypass on August 13. I cannot handle the constant maintenance of the band anymore. I have a feeling I will be so relieved. I should have gone the bypass route the first time around. 1 BRAVOGOLFTANGO reacted to this
Rojasanoll 920 Posted July 25, 2012 Sorry if this information makes you sad but it's true the band is suppose to stay unless there are complications. But Allergan studies that I had the privilege to read since my sister works for Allergan, states sometimes erosion of the band in 7 to 10 years MAY occur. These are lab studies and only lab work. Maybe the nothing is forever is still true. Allergan published medical studies and many many tests were accomplished to get this evidence. 1 BRAVOGOLFTANGO reacted to this
