Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

I had a great day today. I had an appointment with my nutritionist and we went to Walmart. She went over with me the things I buy when grocery shopping. They always tell us what we should look for in a label bit with her right there it made so much more sense. She showed me better options besides some of the things I usually buy. I was amazed with some of the things I was buying was smart choices which they weren't always the right choice. I think if more people could take a field trip like this there would be a ton more people with their eyes opened!

Amen!! I've been preaching nutritionist counseling for months. I really thought I knew it all, but back in March my nutritionist pointed out some mistakes I was making and ever since then I've continuously lost weight.

Going to the grocery store with you is brilliant though.

Its a really good idea for people who need that kind of help, having the right foods in the house to eat really does help plan and maintain your food intake. Not having the wrong foods in the house stops the snack attacks , i know if i kept stuff in the house i shouldnt eat, i would have a hard time not eating it :)

I am so impressed that she took the time to help you, what a star!!

I know for me, if I stay on the outside perimeter of the store I do best! I try to buy fresh, no processed, stopped eating any frozen dinners. only can I buy is tuna, sardines, Beans, prego smart sauce etc.

I love Cookies so try to stay out of that aisle all together! my husband has Cookies in the house but nothing I would eat!

I agree with 2muchfun, sometimes we need to show someone else exactly what we eat. I know I have some habits that should change too.

I have not met my goal yet.. I did not put that statement on my ticker??? I can't get it off??? I still want to get closer to 130. only about 30 lbs, can't believe it. this has been such an amazing time of my life.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
