Get to a doctor ASAP. Not sure of your situation but chest pain should not be taken lightly

I'm actually having the same issue. The pain comes after eating and has happened 4 times in the last 2 weeks. I went to the dr (pcp) today and have to go to the er immediately and have blood drawn to rule out pancreatic disease, which apparently is common after this type of surgery, didn't know that. Anyway....I have also been given nexium and have to take lataid pills before I eat and am on a low fat diet right now to prevent further "attacks". GO TO YOUR DOCTOR.

I used to have something like that periodically. Turned out it was a pinched lung. Stop reading our replies and go see your doctor! Better safe than sorry! /hugs

I went to the er. They thought it was gall bladder issues. But ct scan and ultrasound revealed nothing. The band was also alright. I was advices to go see my pcp. Strange. This is the 2nd time and I o not want me or anyone to have this kind of pain.

Were you recently banded? If so' date=' when was your surgery date?[/quote']

Yes on may 23, anyway I went to the er. The thought it was gall blader issues. But ultrasound and ct ruled it out. Band is ok.advised to see my p c p. I don't want that pain again.

I was banded June 12 and I switched pureed foods on Tuesday. I ate a baked potato and felt like I chewed it enough and everything went down fine. Well about 3 hours later I was doing some paperwork and I got severe pain pressure dead center of my chest and I couldn't breathe! Naturally I got scared because I just had surgery so I thought oh god I have a pulmonary embolism or there's something wrong with my band?! Well I went to the er and they did a chest dray on me and ct and it came back negative which was great! They gave me some stuff for my stomach and gave me a pain shot so I could relax and finally I was able to breathe again! I called my dr the next day she told me what I had was severe reflux and that the potato I had eaten prob expanded and just shut my band down. So in short I won't be eating another baked potato ever haha but I'm glad everything was ok! I was crazy sore for the following 2 days from that though!

Potatoes and bread are clumpy, and frankly don't have much nutrition generally (depending on the type and preparation). I wouldn't rule them out completely, but take baby steps. I'm glad to hear you're both okay. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
